SMBC Indonesia and BTN Complete Transfer of Pension Loan Portfolio, Strengthening Strategic Focus and Sustainable Growth

Jakarta, 30 June 2026 – PT Bank SMBC Indonesia Tbk (SMBC Indonesia) and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) announced the completion of the transfer of SMBC Indonesia’s pension loan portfolio on Monday (29 June 2026).

Through this collaboration, BTN and SMBC Indonesia reaffirm their shared commitment to delivering stronger, more sustainable banking services that are centered on customers’ needs, in line with each institution’s long-term growth strategy. Both institutions are also committed to ensuring a smooth transition by upholding the highest standards of corporate governance, while maintaining the quality of service for pension customers.

BTN President Director, Nixon L.P. Napitupulu, emphasized that this transaction forms part of BTN’s strategy to strengthen its role as a bank that supports Indonesians throughout every stage of life. According to him, BTN’s commitment extends beyond helping customers purchase their first home to supporting their financial well-being as they enter retirement.

“Today, through the official signing of this transaction, BTN officially assumes the management of pension loan services and pension benefits previously managed by SMBC Indonesia. This does not mean that BTN is moving away from its housing business. On the contrary, we aim to strengthen BTN’s customer journey by supporting Indonesians from home ownership, throughout their productive years, and into a comfortable and prosperous retirement. Even for retirees who have yet to own a home, BTN remains committed to helping them realize that aspiration,” said Nixon.

He added that this acquisition will further strengthen BTN’s position as a bank offering a comprehensive financial services ecosystem. Supported by its extensive network and continuously expanding digital capabilities, BTN is confident that it can deliver increasingly relevant services to customers at every stage of life.

“Our Beyond Mortgage transformation does not mean that we are leaving the housing business. Housing remains BTN’s core business. What we are doing is enhancing our service ecosystem so that our relationship with customers continues well beyond home ownership and throughout their retirement years. In doing so, we can continue creating added value while building long-term relationships with our customers,” Nixon added.

Nixon also expressed his appreciation for the intensive collaboration between the BTN and SMBC Indonesia teams since 2025, which ultimately led to the completion of this transaction. He emphasized that all post-transaction activities will be carried out with the highest standards of prudence and regulatory compliance to ensure a seamless transition and deliver optimal value for both institutions and all stakeholders.

Regarding customer services, Nixon assured that the transition process has been designed to be seamless and will not affect customers’ rights.

“Our top priority is ensuring that our customers continue to enjoy a smooth banking experience. We guarantee that all customer rights, including the credit life insurance benefits attached to their loans, will remain unchanged. We are also fully committed to supporting all customers throughout the transition process to ensure they continue receiving the best possible service from BTN,” he said.

SMBC Indonesia President Director, Henoch Munandar, stated that the transaction reflects the Company’s commitment to placing customers at the center of every strategic decision. “We believe that BTN has the capabilities and extensive network to continue serving pension customers.”

Henoch added that the transaction enables SMBC Indonesia to further focus its resources and investments on expanding services for the emerging affluent, affluent, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), and corporate segments.

“With the support of the SMBC Group, together with Jenius, our subsidiary BTPN Syariah, and the OTO Group, SMBC Indonesia will continue to deliver increasingly innovative, integrated, and relevant financial solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers,” he said.

“We believe that BTN has the capabilities and extensive network to continue serving pension customers. At the same time, this transaction enables SMBC Indonesia to accelerate the execution of our strategic growth agenda. As a result, both institutions will be better positioned to leverage their respective strengths in serving the people of Indonesia,” Henoch added.

As part of its commitment to transparency, BTN will soon send a welcome letter, along with comprehensive guidance on the transfer of loan facility management, to all affected customers.

However, pension benefit payments will continue to be administered by SMBC Indonesia until further notice. Customers are encouraged to continue completing the required periodic authentication process to ensure the uninterrupted payment of their pension benefits.
