SMBCI RECEIVES APPROVAL TO BECOME AN RDN (CUSTOMER FUND ACCOUNT) ADMINISTRATOR BANK
Jakarta, 31 October 2016 – With its vision of changing the lives of millions of Indonesians, PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk (SMBCI) is committed to continually improving the quality and expanding the range of its services for its cherished customers.
As a demonstration of its commitment to achieving this, SMBCI is set to serve as a customer fund account (RDN) administrator bank. SMBCI obtained approval to become such a customer fund account (RDN) administrator bank from PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI)/The Indonesian Central Securities Depository, on 3 October 2016.
“RDN administrator banks are commercial banks appointed by KSEI to carry out the RDN administrative process for the purpose of the settlement of securities transactions or other activities in line with the prevailing legislation,” said SMBCI Director Arief Harris Tandjung at a memorandum of understanding signing event between SMBCI and PT Indo Premier Securities, PT Trimegah Sekuritas Indonesia Tbk, and PT Danareksa Sekuritas in Jakarta, on Monday.
Furthermore, by becoming an RDN administrator bank, SMBCI will be able to provide a wider range of services as a bank, including by teaming up with securities firms to cater for investors that wish to place the proceeds of their securities investments in SMBCI. It will also allow SMBCI to develop products for its middle to upper segment customers.
“With the joining of SMBCI, there are now 11 KSEI-approved RDN administrator banks. Our collaboration with these banks is consistent with our efforts to develop a storage and settlement infrastructure in the capital markets. As such, KSEI continues to open itself up to cooperating with banks that are keen to act as an RDN administrator bank. This enhanced level of cooperation with banks is expected to expand people's access to capital markets in Indonesia,” said President Director of KSEI Friderica Widyasari Dewi.
Friderica added that the utilization of banking networks forms part of the development currently being undertaken by KSEI in the form of the AKSes Financial Hub, an AKSes facility serving as a hub for capital market investment activities. Through the AKSes Financial Hub, investors will be able to monitor their securities portfolios as well as convey instructions related to securities transactions and withdraw funds from their RDN by means of the AKSes facility on the banking e-channel network.
To follow up on the approval it received to become an RDN administrator bank, SMBCI signed a memorandum of understanding with the three securities firms mentioned above. The signing of this MoU means that customers who wish perform an investment transaction through any of these three companies can choose SMBCI for storing their RDN investment funds.
“In signing this MoU, we would like to offer banking services with added value to investors in our three partner securities firms. Moreover, these partnerships will open even more extensive cooperation opportunities aimed at providing more products and services to customers,” said Arief in closing.
